Nobeoka (map) is the northernmost city in Miyazaki Prefecture and the third largest after Miyakonojo and Miyazaki City respectively. Situated between several beautiful rivers, and framed by the ocean on one side and mountains on the other, this city is perfect for enjoying the quintessential Miyazaki outdoors. Nobeoka maintains a balance of nature and industry; the towering orange and white smoke stacks of the Asahi Kasei factory are treated more as landmarks than intrusions.
