Shiratori Upper Onsen (白鳥上温泉)

The higher of the two Shiratori onsen and by far the superior. Affording spectacular views of the Southern Kyushu mountains and the Ebino Valley, Shiratori Upper is not to be missed. A small indoor area (approximately 5 showers plus a small pool) is more than compensated for by the spectacular outdoor pool. Designed to mimic natural rocky hot springs, Shiratori Upper is a peaceful and affordable place to stop after a hard day hiking on Ebino Plateau. Shiratori also features a sauna separate from the onsen, nestled in the woods behind the main building. Due to it’s smaller size and it’s popularity, Shiratori Upper can be crowded on weekends and holidays.
