December is almost here, and with it comes many great holiday volunteer opportunities!

This year, MAJET has been asked to participate in three exciting international events for the holidays, and we’re looking for some bright, energetic people willing to spread some holiday spirit.

Miyazaki International Festival

Date: Saturday, December 9th
Time: 10:30-4pm

The Miyazaki International Foundation hosts this festival every year as a way to foster international relations. The festival features cultural booths hosted by local college students and foreign residents, a variety of stage performances showcasing world cultures, an art show, a Japanese speech contest, and more!

MAJET has been asked to host a booth as well, to the theme of “Christmas Around the World.” We’re looking for volunteers to help run the booth, chat with guests, help with simple crafts or activities, and/or dress up as Santa for the kiddos. If you’re interested in performing, you can also sign up for that as well! This is a great way to fill up your afternoon before MAJET’s Pub Quiz, which will be hosted that same evening. 😉

Nobeoka German Christmas Market

Date: Sunday, December 17th
Time: 3-8pm

Every year the city of Nobeoka hosts a big winter event. This year they are hosting a German Christmas Market! There will be a variety of stalls featuring traditional foods, crafts, and other activities. In addition, a few local ALTs will be putting on a special performance.

MAJET was asked to join the fun by recruiting additional volunteers to make the event a smash! We’re looking for people to help out at craft booths and food stalls. The market begins at 3:00pm, but we’d ask volunteers to arrive a bit earlier to set up and prepare for the event.

Miyazaki City Christmas Market

Date: Sunday, December 24th
Time: 12:00-17:00
Location: Ichibangai in downtown Miyazaki (map)

Last year we participated in the Christmas Market at Ichibangai, and we’ve been invited back this year as well! We’re looking for some volunteers to lead a holiday workshop activity for the guests, perform Christmas Carols, and/or dress as Santa and Mrs. Claus to entertain the kids.

The market begins at 1:00, but we’d ask volunteers to arrive early to set up and prepare for the event. We will be outside, so be sure to dress accordingly.
