Dr. Eto is a friendly English speaking doctor. He specializes in internal medicine. If he can’t help you then he can put you in touch with someone who can. Eto Clinic is open weekdays until 6:00 PM and Saturday mornings until 12:00 PM. Walk-ins are fine, but there is sometimes a wait. Eto Clinic is located between Shimamura and K’s Denki in Nichinan.

A dermatology clinic located just a few blocks past Kawano Clinic. It is open from 9:00 AM – 12:30 PM and 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM most days. Saturdays are mornings only, Sundays are closed, and Wednesdays have special hours. Walk-ins only. Always busy.

Kawano Clinic　河野医院
Dr. Kawano is very personable and speaks decent English. No appointment is necessary and there is rarely a wait on weekdays. Kawano Clinic is open Monday-Saturday from 8:30-5:30 with daily closures from noon to 2:00 PM. It is located close to Aburatsu Station. If you follow the road straight through the first big intersection, you’ll find it on your right. And, if you work out at Excel, you might just run into him there!

If you need to get a refill on any mental-health related prescriptions, this is the only place in town you can get them.  Must call in advance to make an appointment.  Bringing a Japanese person/high level Japanese speaker is advised.

Yamamoto Hospital　山元病院
Dr. Yamamoto is a general practitioner of half-German, half-Japanese descent who speaks English fluently. She is very nice and a good listener. You can walk in anytime during the opening hours of Monday to Friday 8:30 AM – 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM. Saturday the hours are 8:30 AM – 12:00 PM. It is fine to go there on your own. When a person with limited Japanese arrives, the reception staff with automatically call Dr. Yamamoto. Yamamoto Hospital is walking distance from the Nichinan Station and City Hall.

Excel Fitness Center
This gym is run by a husband and wife who are both bodybuilders. It’s a small gym with limited machines but all the free weights you may need. They also have stationary bikes, step masters, and treadmills. Monthly and annual memberships are available. Annual membership is ￥25,000 and discounted to ￥15,000 for night-time members (5:00 PM and later) or if you join in a group of five or more. They also offer one time entrance fees, for 500 yen. Open weekdays from 10:00 AM to 9:30 PM and weekends from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Closed on Thursdays. Phone: (0987) 22-3003.

ZERO-ONE
Located across from the Athletic Park. It offers a wide variety of machines, but free weights only go up to 20kg. One day entrance fees are 300 yen. This gym has quite unusual hours, open from 10:00-12:00 and 15:00-21:00 on Monday to Saturday.

Lanai Sports Club
This is a large fitness center located in Aburatsu, equipped with a gym, indoor pool, dance studio, sauna, etc. The facilities are gauged much more towards families, but anyone is welcome to join. The staff are very friendly, and one of them speaks excellent English. Hours are 10:00 – 21:30 Monday-Saturday.

Nichinan City General Athletic Park　日南総合運動公園
