In June, the kiddos might still be in school, but that doesn’t mean us adults can’t have some fun at the beach! Get out those bathing suits and soak up that sweet “hinata” Miyazaki is so famous for!
On the weekend of June 24th-25th, join Miyazaki AJET and Oita JET at Sumie beach, one of the best attractions in Nobeoka and a beach famous for its facilities, cleanliness, and clear waters. We will be renting either the cabins or the campgrounds at the Sumie Family Village, based on your stated preference! (Note: OitaJET is booking their cabins SEPARATELY, so your roommates will be your fellow Miyazakians.) Naturally, there will be barbeque grilling in the evening, so remember to bring your favourite foods and drinks!
We haven’t had a joint AJET event since last September’s Shipwrecked! adventure in Kagoshima so we are excited that Oita AJET has decided to come on down and explore our lovely beaches. Therefore, this will be a great opportunity to meet other JETs so make sure you don’t miss out!
Overnight guests have a choice between cabins and campgrounds. The cabins come equipped with air-conditioning, a kitchen with a gas cooker, a bath & toilet, minifridge, a TV, as well as bedding for 5 people. The campground provides tents that accommodate 5-6 people. They are built on platforms and have a waterproof covering, so there is no need to worry about rain! Each division is also equipped with a cooking area, shower block, toilet, and 100V power supply, but no bedding is provided.
Cabin bedding will be granted on a first come-first-served basis. MAJET has 5 foam mats and 10 sleeping bags available to borrow. These can be reserved via the RSVP form, and will also be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.

Cost: If you are just coming to hang out for the day, this event is free! If you will be participating in the barbecue, we ask that you contribute 200円 for charcoal, grill starter, plates/utensils, and cleaning supplies.
If you are staying overnight, the costs are as follows:
Cabins (5 people): 1650 MAJET members, 2000 non-MAJET members
Tents (5 people): 650 MAJET members, 1000 non-MAJET members
*NOTE: If we fit more than 5 people in each cabin/tent, the costs will go down slightly, so these prices are not final. We will inform you of the final price once the RSVP deadline has passed.
Check In & Out:
Check-in to Sumie Family Village (map): campgrounds at 3PM, cabins at 4PM.
Check-out on June 25th by 1PM.

Public Transportation:
If you are coming to Nobeoka by train, there is a bus that goes to and from Nobeoka Station to Sumie. The schedule for the bus is provided below.
