Hey MAJETers! If you read the “Plaza News” (which you should, there’s a lot of good stuff in there and Heyne works hard on it every month 😉 ), you may have already heard about this event. But just in case you haven’t, the 11th Annual Miyazaki International Festival will be held on Saturday, December 10th! There will be many events taking place, including a Japanese speech contest, a screening of the film “Hafu,” and hands-on activities. The Miyazaki International Foundation (MIF) would be very happy if MAJETers would come to the event and meet others living in Miyazaki.

You can be a part of it!

In addition to your attendance, MIF is encouraging foreigners to participate in the Art Festival. We have many talented artists, photographers, and crafters in Miyazaki, and this is your chance to get yourself out there and show your stuff!

This year’s theme for the Art Festival is “Miyazaki and Me.” If you have any works that are evocative of this theme, why not submit the to the exhibition? Types of art submissions can be anything including (but not limited to) drawings, painting, photography, calligraphy, and handmade crafts.

Submitted artwork will be displayed at the Miyazaki Prefecture Enterprise Bureau Building from December 7th through December 10th. Visitors will vote for their favorite pieces, and the winners will be given prizes and certificates! Following the festival, the exhibition will travel around the prefecture.

To submit artwork, please fill out an application, attach it to your work, and drop it off at either the Miyazaki international Foundation or the University of Miyazaki Global Support Office. Alternatively, digital submissions may be emailed to miyainfo@mif.or.jp. Full submission guidelines can be found here. All submissions should be received no later than Saturday, November 12th. The deadline is almost here, so don’t hesitate to submit!

In addition to artwork submissions, MIF is also looking for stage performers for the International Festival! Performances can include dance, music, and so on. If you are interested in performing, please contact miyainfo04@gmail.com.
