Autumn Festival (mid-October)
Ebino’s Autumn Festival is geared towards boosting tourism. A variety of local foods and products are available, and a flea market is held.
Kyoumachi Two-Day Market
Kyoumachi Futsukaichi 京町二日市
When: Early February
Where: Kyoumachi onsen and shopping district (map)
What: A festival with a large market for shopping. Hundreds of vendors gather together to sell handmade goods, locally grown food, antiques, and more! There is also entertainment, food stalls and trucks, and family-friendly activities for everyone.
Access: Kyoumachi Station is mere steps away from the festival, otherwise parking is available nearby in local business parking lots and community centers off of Route 268.
Sakura Hanami Lighting
When: End of March – Early April
Where: Hachimangaoka Park 八幡丘公園 (map)
What: A hanami festival where lights illuminate the cherry blossom trees at Hachimangaoka Park for the blooming season. Enjoy a tunnel of sakura trees in a peaceful park with hilltop views of the city below.
Access: Located off of Route 268. Follow the signs to 407 and beyond to the park. Car or bicycle required, buses do not go directly to the park.
Kyoumachi Onsen Marathon 京町温泉マラソン大会
When: End of April – Early May
Where: Ebino City Green Park (Coca-Cola Factory) (map)
What: A marathon event in Ebino. Runners can compete in this fun event where locals come to cheer on everyone competing.
Access: Take Route 268 to Green Park, but be careful as the traffic is slow and some roads are closed for the runners.
Kyoumachi Onsen Fireworks Festival 京町温泉夏祭り
When: End of July
Where: Kawauchi River Kyomachi Riverbed 川内川京町河川敷 (map)
What: A wonderful fireworks festival along the river in Ebino. Hosted by the Kyoumachi Onsen business association, the event has live entertainment, food stalls, music, and of course fireworks! Bring a blanket or chair and enjoy the festivities with your friends.
Access: Traffic can be difficult, so it’s recommended to take the train or bus and walk to the venue. However, there is parking available at local businesses and community centers off of Route 268 and walking distance from the event.
International Festival 国際交流フェスティバル
When: End of September
Where: International Center Outdoor Stage 国際交流センター野外ステージ (map)
What: An international festival with booths about foreign countries and languages, performances from locals and international residents, and food stalls. There’s also live entertainment and fun activities like tug-of-war and stamp rallies.
Access: From Route 268, take Highway 102 and follow the signs. Plenty of parking is available and the nearest bus stop is a 15 minute walk away.
Ebino Autumn Festival えびの秋季観光際
When: End of October
Where: In the past, it’s been held at Green Park (map) but in recent years it has changed locations and been at the JA location near the library and Culture Center. (map)
What: A harvest festival with food stalls selling local and seasonal foods. There’s an emphasis on agriculture and local farmers gather to promote their goods to locals and other visitors.
Access: Most of the past locations have been held very near to, or right off of, Route 268 and are accessible by car or bus.
