KoroKoro Cafe (コロコロ）
This family run café is furnished in natural wooden furniture (made by the owner), that combined with the soft jazz usually on in the background, makes it incredibly cozy. A family restaurant with one in Tsutsumi, open 24 hours at the intersection of route 221 and 268, and another in Nishimachi, open till about 2am on 221 heading toward Ebino on the right hand side.
Another family restaurant (next to Nafco). Taimu has an Internet link for you to sit and work. Last order at 10:45pm. The have all sorts of food from ramen to yakiniku.
A small Italian restaurant. Its pizzas are tasty and the pasta is good. It’s on the road from Ebino to Miyazaki before the big intersection (where the Tsutsumi Joyfull is located) on the right. Serves up a good lunch set for 700円. It isn’t always open so book ahead or have a backup option in mind!
A small pizza place very close to Kobayashi station. You’ll quite often find it’s full of school kids but they have pretty good pizza.
Madoka / Haikaratei / Famiriya
This place is actually one restaurant with three names. Go figure. It’s the only Kaiten Sushi place in town (sushi bar/ sushi train). Also has Yakiniku and traditional Japanese meals. It’s next to Toyota Netz on the right when heading toward Takaharu on 221.
Good pasta here, too, and what would you expect with a name like that. It’s on the left heading toward Miyazaki on 268 next to Uniqlo.
As you’d expect they mainly sell ramen but a good range of other stuff too. Prices start at around 400円. It’s located on 221 about 200m up from Joyfull in Tsutsumi.
Curry house (totally non-smoking) with heaps of different curries. You can choose how much rice you want, what sauce base and toppings with all the prices clearly written on the menu. On the right on route 221 heading toward Takaharu.
A Japanese takeaway store that is relatively cheap. There are two, both are on route 221. One in Tsutsumi almost next to Kyōmin Ramen and the other near Nakamachi on the right hand side heading towards Ebino about one kilometer from the Tsutsumi Joyfull.
It’s on the left hand side of the bypass heading towards Ebino about 700m from the Tsutsumi Joyfull. Good food, not too expensive and a pretty good view of the city.
All you can eat Yakiniku. Just past the Family Mart on the right heading towards Takaharu on route 221.
Delicious food. It’s about 900円 for a full buffet meal that is vegetarian friendly. It’s a good 15 minutes drive out of Kobayashi City heading towards Miyazaki City on 268. Look for the frog statues and dome on your right; you can’t miss it.
An Izakaya where the prices are pretty cheap but the portions a little small. A good place to eat with groups as it’s ideal to order many dishes and share. Next to Kyōmin Ramen.
Suki Murando Horse and Dolphin Farm (すきむらんど)
Contrary to the name, there are no horses or dolphins here. Instead, you’ll find a quaint little art gallery with 3 annexes: craft, photography, and art. In addition to the gallery, you’ll find an unagi restaurant, a hiking trail, an onsen, and even summer canoe rentals!
