The dismal rainy weather did nothing to deter Miyazaki’s finest flappers and sneakiest mobsters from attending the secret party at Rosie Marie’s speakeasy in early March. Sakatani Roadside Campground Centre had been dolled up as the jumping Juice Joint, complete with a bar manned by Gino Gin and the sultry tones of Dina Diva’s vocals. The guest list included two warring mobsters, Southside Sal and Notorious Nick, whose names were on everyone’s lips all night. Was one of them responsible for the recent death of Rosie’s husband Louis? Upon arrival, everyone was handed a mysterious envelope by waitress Kitty Cocktail, the instructions and contents of which possible held the answer to that very question. Continue reading

2017 Welcome Weekend Summary
The final weekend of summer holidays saw over 50 JETs and our friends attending MAJET’s 2017 Welcome Weekend. Spread across a Beach BBQ, the Cape Toi Fire Festival and Sakaematsu Camping, there was something for everyone! One of Miyazaki’s biggest and most exciting festivals, the Cape Toi Fire Festival, will be held on the 25th-26th of August this year. For those who don’t know, the Fire Festival features locals slinging lit torches towards the top of a 100-foot pole in order to light it: a sight not to be missed!
So that our new arrivals don’t miss out on this amazing festival, MAJET is planning a nearby welcome barbecue before the festival, so it’s a truly unforgettable weekend! It was a cold, dark, drizzly evening when we rolled into Sakatani in late October. Our dear friend, Rick Rochester, had suddenly passed away, and his lawyer, Reilly Ravish had called us all together for the will reading.
A lovely dinner was set out when we arrived, and we spent the evening reminiscing about our friend, wondering about the circumstances of his death, and, most importantly, pondering the contents of his will.
Ms. Ravish had just read the will when, suddenly, the lights went out! A loud gunshot sounded through the darkness and a flurry of panic ensued. Once the power was restored, we found one of our number motionless of the floor, murdered. Continue reading
