It was a rainy, blustery morning much like the day Harry first discovered he was a wizard when Miyazakians from all over the prefecture gathered in Miyazaki City to challenge the Amazing Race. We didn’t let the rain get us down, though! Continue reading
The time has finally come for the 7th Annual Amazing Race Miyazaki! This is one of our biggest events of the year. Some of you may already be familiar with the American TV show, The Amazing Race. Hello hello! It’s time to plan this year’s Amazing Race Miyazaki!
If you’re not sure what the Amazing Race is, check out our past blog posts!
The event will be held on Saturday, April 14th, 2018. To keep things fresh, we’ll be moving from last year’s location in Aoshima back to central Miyazaki City. This year’s theme is something magical (we think you’re gonna love it!), but we need your help to make it a reality. Continue reading
Every October, hundreds of people travel to Kagoshima’s Nejime Port for the Minami Osumi Nejime Dragon Boat Festival! Teams of 10 people board colorful, dragon-shaped boats and race down a 380m river course to claim the prize.
This year, MAJET will be collaborating with Kagoshima AJET (KAJET) to bring Dragon Boat Racing to you! This is a great opportunity to meet our neighbor JETs and build new connections and friendships, while also enjoying and participating in a unique cultural experience. It’s been a couple of years since MAJET has participated in this event, but we’ve always had a really great time, and we are really looking forward to joining KAJET this year!
While this event isn’t until October, we have to register by the end of August (yikes!), so if you are interested in participating, please review the information below and RSVP as soon as possible! Continue reading
While rain threatened most of the week, we had clear sunny skies all day long for this year’s Amazing Race, and an amazing event it was!
The participants arrived bright and early–all 74 of them!–eager and ready for a day of fun games and challenges. This was definitely our biggest race yet! We were very happy to see so many local college students participating and getting a chance to have some real-world encounters engaging with foreigners.
The time has finally come for the Sixth Annual Amazing Race Miyazaki! This is one of our biggest events of the year. Some of you may already be familiar with the American TV show, The Amazing Race. The Amazing Race Miyazaki is loosely based around this televised competition. In this event, teams race to solve clues, complete challenges, and earn points!
Each year, MAJET chooses a new theme and different locations around Miyazaki City for their challenges to take place, giving participants the chance to discover new secrets about the city. This year, the race will be based in Aoshima, and each challenge and their clues will take you on a journey through the animated worlds of Studio Ghibli and Disney! Continue reading
Saturday, October 1st, 2016 marked MAJET’s very first Undokai! All week beforehand, we were worried that it would rain, and were even preparing to reschedule the event. We had faith, however, and when we gathered at Oyodo River that morning it actually turned out to be a beautiful, bright sunny day (albeit a bit hot for October). Everyone was pumped up and ready for the day’s activities! Continue reading
Join MAJET for a Japanese-style sports festival and experience all the fun of participating, without the hassle of having to organise anything! Continue reading
…it might be something like the 2016 Amazing Race!
This year marked our fifth year holding the race, and we had a great mix of Miyazaki residents (both native and foreign), as well as several guests from outside the prefecture! Continue reading
The time has finally come for the Fifth Annual Amazing Race Miyazaki! This is one of our biggest events of the year. Some of you may already be familiar with the American TV show, The Amazing Race. The Amazing Race Miyazaki is loosely based around this televised competition, except that teams will follow clues which will take them to different “Quests” within the boundaries of Miyazaki City. This year, each Quest and their Clues are inspired by the world of video games, both old school and new. So hit your local arcade and get yourself ready to play. Continue reading
