Winter is such a dull time, even in Miyazaki. We get so used to the sun for most of the year that the shortened days really take their toll. Because of this, our midyear party is an important event to get people out of their houses and raise spirits. This year we decided to switch up the masquerade a bit by giving it a theme: A Night at the Movies! Continue reading
Miyazaki’s only autumn colors belong to a variety of subtropical flowers which somehow manage to bloom, and to the trees and foliage which only become slightly less green even in the cold winter months. However, if you were to venture up into the mountains in the west of the prefecture, you would find vibrant patches of vermillion interspersed with swathes of gold gilding the mountainside—along with the usual vast expanse of deep forest greens. In the afternoon of September 26, we began meeting at Aoshima Beach. The tide was super high, possibly due to that supermoon everyone was going on about… Continue reading
Autumn is upon us, and what better way to enjoy the season than by spending time in nature? While fall colors can be hard to find in Miyazaki, there are some truly gorgeous gems if you know where to look. Sometimes a bit of exploring is all you need to discover someplace magical.
Lucky for you, MAJET has already done the scouting, and we’ve planned an amazing brand new event! See some of Miyazaki’s beautiful autumn leaves from a kayak and then visit a secluded mountain village for an ancient festival. Nature and culture—how can you go wrong?

The annual MAJET Welcome Party is a great opportunity for JETs from all over the prefecture to get together and, in some cases, meet for the first time. Continue reading

Join MAJET at Aoshima Beach on Saturday, September 26 as we gather for one last bit of summer fun! The party will begin at 3:00pm, and we’ll get the barbecue going around 6:00pm. In the morning, we can take a walk over to Aoshima Shrine. Continue reading
