Volunteers Needed for the Miyazaki International Festival!

Good morning everyone! Are you looking for ways to participate in local events? The Miyazaki International Foundation is looking for foreigners to participate in this year’s Miyazaki International Festival on Saturday, November 21st.

For this event, they are now collecting entries for Art festival (photography, paintings/drawings, calligraphy, handmade crafts, and others) and looking for participants to participate in the Japanese Speech Contest and/or to put on a Stage performance (dance, music, and so on). Continue reading →

The Amazing Race – One does not simply walk through Miyazaki

The time has finally come for the Fourth Annual Amazing Race Miyazaki! This is one of our biggest events of the year. Some of you may already be familiar with the American TV show, The Amazing Race. The Amazing Race Miyazaki is loosely based around this televised competition, except that teams will follow clues which will take them to different “Quests” within the boundaries of Miyazaki City. This year, each Quest and their Clues are inspired by J.R.R. Tolkien’s books and their movie counterparts, The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. January marks the middle of the JET contract, and what better way to celebrate half a year in Japan than with a great big bash? ALTs, CIRs, and our Japanese friends gathered from far and wide for MAJET’s Midyear Masquerade! We even had a few people come in from neighboring prefectures 😉 This was certainly an event to remember!

Hey there, Miyazaki! In just a few short weeks all of the ALTs will gather for the annual Skill Development Conference. The senpai ALTs are all busy preparing their demonstrations and workshops for the first-years, and it looks like there will be many great topics this year!

We are looking forward to seeing everyone there, but we are even more excited for what comes after. After all, the best way to decompress and unwind after a long day of presentations and workshops is to have a big party! MAJET is really excited about this year’s theme, and we hope you are too.
