The rainy season is upon us and with it comes Daiso humidifiers, hydrangeas, mould, and bittersweet farewells. Before our new and old friends leave Miyazaki for bigger, better things, let’s end it with a bang at the 2017 Farewell Party. Of all the gin joints, in all the towns, in all the world, our leavers will be walking into Aoshima’s Cafe Zeal to listen to Sam play it again. While we all eat and drink way too much, we’ll know that’s it’s not goodbye, it’s the beginning of a beautiful friendship.

The Amazing Race 2017: Spirited Away to Aoshima, Hyuna’s Animated Adventure

The time has finally come for the Sixth Annual Amazing Race Miyazaki! This is one of our biggest events of the year. Some of you may already be familiar with the American TV show, The Amazing Race. The Amazing Race Miyazaki is loosely based around this televised competition. In this event, teams race to solve clues, complete challenges, and earn points!

Each year, MAJET chooses a new theme and different locations around Miyazaki City for their challenges to take place, giving participants the chance to discover new secrets about the city. This year, the race will be based in Aoshima, and each challenge and their clues will take you on a journey through the animated worlds of Studio Ghibli and Disney! Continue reading →

Friday the 20th of January, MAJET invites you to the only (and therefore best) club in Miyazaki for our Vegas Night!

We’ll be filling Weather King with all the glitz and glamour of Vegas, as long as that glitz and glamour is available at Daiso.

We’ll also be issuing everyone chips that they can use at one of our gambling tables. The person who has the most chips at the end of the night will win a prize. Be careful however; if you bust out, you’re not going to get any more chips. Risk it all to win it all! Continue reading →

Volunteer at the 2016 International Christmas Market!

Christmas time is here! It’s the most wonderful time of the year and we need all the help we can get to spread a little Christmas cheer. Fight the year-end blues by joining us on 23 December (also a National Holiday) from 13:00 – 17:00 for a wonderful Christmas volunteer opportunity.

This year, MAJET is teaming up with Rika hyuna_xmasvolunteer(Kiyotake International Association) and Sascha (former CIR) to join the Christmas Market at Ichibangai (map) in Miyazaki City. This is a typical Christmas Market and so there will be plenty of other stalls too. In order to have a successful stall, we need your help! We’re looking for people to dress up as Santa/Santarina and take some snaps with kids or make their day by giving them candy. We also need workshop assistants and carolers/ performers.

Hey MAJETers! If you read the “Plaza News” (which you should, there’s a lot of good stuff in there and Heyne works hard on it every month 😉 ), you may have already heard about this event. But just in case you haven’t, the 11th Annual Miyazaki International Festival will be held on Saturday, December 10th! There will be many events taking place, including a Japanese speech contest, a screening of the film “Hafu,” and hands-on activities. MAJET’s 1st Sports Day!

Saturday, October 1st, 2016 marked MAJET’s very first Undokai! All week beforehand, we were worried that it would rain, and were even preparing to reschedule the event. We had faith, however, and when we gathered at Oyodo River that morning it actually turned out to be a beautiful, bright sunny day (albeit a bit hot for October).
